Interchangeable disposable and fixed tip heads

Equipped with polypropylene disposable tips, the Bravo has an effective volume range of 2 ul - 200 ul in 96 format and 0.3 ul - 50ul in 384 format. For lower sub-microliter dispenses, coated stainless steel fixed tips extend the effective volume range down to 0.1 ul. See tables for details. (Tables from data sheet)

Heating and cooling stations

Each Bravo deck position can be configured with a temperature control station, providing temperature control of ±0.1 °C uniformly across the entire plate with a working temperature range from -100 °C to +200°C.


Orbital shaking station

The orbital shaking station can be placed at any position on the Bravo deck and at as many positions as desired. The amplitude and duration of the shaking is set through a simple user interface in VWorks which seamlessly integrates the shaking module into the pipetting protocol.

Vacuum filtration station

For applications requiring filtration, the Bravo supports both vacuum to waste and vacuum for collection techniques. These can be performed manually, or fully automated using the Bravo gripper to stack and unstack the filtration station.

PCR plate positioning station

Often PCR plates experience warping problems. This can lead to uneven dispensing across the plate. To prevent this, the Bravo is available with a PCR plate position station that utilizes vacuum to hold the plate down while it is being processed by the Bravo. Vacuum monitoring ensures the plate is seated properly before the protocol begins.

Alignment Station 

The Bravo Alignment Station ensures precise positioning of labware on the Bravo deck. It is used primarily for 1536-well, and low volume (small diameter) 384-well microplates where high precision positioning is essential. The unique roller design is compatible with a wide range of plate handling robots.

Vacuum Alignment Station 

Warped PCR plates are no longer a problem for liquid handlers. This accessory utilizes vacuum to hold a wide range of plates down flat to ensure reliable pipetting in every well. A vacuum sensor ensures proper plate engagement prior to any liquid handling steps.

Weigh Station 

The weigh station provides precise liquid level control for auto-filling reagent reservoirs. By monitoring the weight of the reservoir, it can control when the associated pump is activated. This ensures that the liquid level is always kept at an optimal location, and the reservoir is never overfilled.

Trash Holes 

All Bravos come standard with two removable positions which provide through-deck access. These locations can be configured for tip and plate waste, minimizing the system footprint and further increasing throughput by reducing unnecessary movements.

Light Curtain 

The Bravo light curtain provides additional user protection, without additional aggravation. It is designed to add little to the overall size of the Bravo, and most importantly triggering the light curtain does not cause a fatal stop to the process. If the light curtain is tripped the Bravo stops immediately, displaying an error message. Once cleared, the Bravo picks up right where it left off.
